This course is designed to expose students to current controversies within the field of gifted education. The readings were chosen because they are provocative in the hopes that we can stimulate some interesting discussions about philosophy and practice in gifted education. There will be many lively discussions and differences of opinion as you read some thought?provoking journal articles and book chapters, mainly published in the past 10 years. Also included are chapters from David Dai’s recent book, The Nature and Nurture of Giftedness: A New Framework for Understanding Gifted Education, which synthesizes many of the field’s critical questions with a concise paradigm and extensive scholarly support.
